Summary

Most people are aware of their need for health insurance and most employers offer health insurance policies accordingly. The health of the employees can play a critical role on their work performance, which explains why employer’s provide health insurance – even ones who aren’t required to per the Affordable Care Act. Once an employee gets sick, health care is given to him or her through insurance so that he or she can recuperate and join the workforce again. However, as many come to find out, a basic health insurance might not be enough. Ancillary benefits are additions to a health insurance provided by an employer to his or her employees, or purchased by individuals themselves. These additions to the health plan often include the following insurances: vision, dental, hearing, short-term health, and final expense (funeral). This course will provide an overview of these common ancillary insurance coverages to help insurance agents gain an understanding of the products available so they are better able to communicate their importance to clients and assist them in selecting coverages that are best suited for their needs.
