Car insurance. Health insurance. Homeowner’s insurance. Life insurance. For most American workers, these insurance policies are things we understand, discuss, and often times see as necessities. But there’s one form of insurance that is harder to talk about because no one wants to think that it could happen to them. Yes, we’re talking about disability insurance. Studies have shown that one-third of employed Americans today will become disabled for at least 90 days at some point in their careers. Yet, lack of disability insurance is a common – and potentially devastating – financial error. In this course, we will provide insurance producers an in-depth understanding of the history of disability insurance, the various types of disability insurance and programs, an in-depth look at the different forms available, including Social Security disability benefits and Workers’ Compensation. We’ll also take a close look at the various provisions, and limitations, listed in most disability policies.
