This course is required for LTC agents to sell LTC/Medicare. It must be taken the every term after you take the 8-credit-hour LTC course during your first term.

This course covers the following topics:
  • Gain an understanding of long-term care – including the settings, providers, and levels of care
  • Discuss funding of long-term care services – including social programs like Medicare and Medicaid, as well as long-term care insurance
  • An introduction to long-term care partnership programs that encourage consumers to purchase affordable long-term care insurance policies and help reduce the financial burden on state Medicaid programs
  • Discuss other funding sources available to help individuals pay for their long-term care.

Summary

In this 4-hour course, students will gain an understanding of long-term care – including the settings, providers and levels of care. We will discuss funding of long-term care services – including social programs like Medicare and Medicaid, as well as long-term care insurance. Students will also be introduced to long-term care partnership programs that encourage consumers to purchase affordable long-term care insurance policies and help reduce the financial burden on state Medicaid programs. Lastly, we’ll discuss other funding sources available to help individuals pay for their long-term care.
