Yoga or Benefits?
Did you know, according to Glassdoor’s “2015 Employment Confidence Survey,” approximately 60% of people report that benefits and perks are a chief factor in considering whether to accept a job offer? Additionally, the survey found that 80% of employees would choose additional benefits over a pay raise. So while perks like free snacks, catered lunches, and break-room yoga classes might receive lots of buzz in the media, they aren’t necessarily the benefits most desired by an employee.
A survey conducted by Fractl of 2,000 U.S. workers found that when it comes to attractive benefits, better health, vision, and dental insurance topped the list. 88% of respondents reported that they would give this benefit “some consideration” (34%) or “heavy consideration” (54%) when choosing a job. Unlimited vacation, in comparison, only received 63%, and free snacks and coffee came in at 32% and 30%, respectively.
Now more than ever, employers across the country understand the critical role benefits play in employee attraction, retention, and productivity. Employee benefits, along with employer-offered retirement plans, have a major impact on helping support employees’ lives outside of the workplace. They do so by minimizing expenses, providing a financial safety net, and helping people to enjoy their retirement years.
